About me

Currently I am heading the Off-Grid Systems research unit which I initiated at the Reiner Lemoine Institut (RLI) in Berlin, Germany. Looking at universal access to energy as one of the most important global challenges, I believe that experts have to work together on a local and international level to master this challenge. Thus, I am motivated by the opportunity to contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goal #7 (SDG7) of the United Nations (ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all) as both researcher and consultant.
My international project experience includes rural electrification planning in Nigeria (EU/GIZ), Zambia (IFC) and the Philippines (EUAid) and hybridization projects in the Cook Islands (ADB) and in the Caribbean (IRENA/UNEP).
I also work on international research collaborations, e.g. with the University of the Philippines or via the Berkeley-Berlin Energy Access Group with the UC Berkeley.
Furthermore, I am founder of the Berlin off-grid roundtable with 100+ members.
AGYA gives me the opportunity to bring in my expertise on SDG7 and strengthen my academic network with Arab partners.
